Communications and Storytelling Specialist

Pacific County Voices Uniting (PCVU) is hiring part-time or full-time, Communications Storytelling Specialist in Pacific County. The position will be a valued member of the PCVU Team and report to the Executive Director. This position will work on average 20-40 hours per week within the pay range of $24-$30 per hour depending on experience. After 90 days, PCVU offers medical/vision and dental insurance to employees (and their families), 401k retirement plan and up to 11 paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Depending on FTE, employees will receive up to 6.7 hours of vacation and up to 4.3 hours of sick leave every month. PCVU is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Position Responsibilities 

Content Creation & Community Engagement 

  • Assist with developing and implementing a communications strategy to engage community members around PCVU programs and activities 

  • Create impactful content for various platforms that advance PCVU’s purpose

  • Create and manage email campaigns to inform and engage our supporters effectively, including monthly newsletters distributed

  • Develop and execute social media strategies to increase engagement, followers, and advocacy

  • Regularly update and maintain our website, ensuring it reflects our purpose and values, and user-friendly

  • Cultivate relationships with local media outlets, craft pitches, and facilitate interviews, op-eds, and letters to the editors 

  • Lead in the development and implementation of storytelling to uplift community member’s voices and the organization

  • Ensure consistent branding and messaging across all communication channels, reinforcing our organization's purpose and values

  • Collaborate in designing, coordination, and promotion of in-person and online events to connect with our community to expand our reach

Administration 

  • Engage in professional email correspondence, create and update digital filing systems, and relay messages to other staff as necessary

  • Communicate with ED and PCVU Team members in a timely manner

  • Engage in a range of preferred communication methods/styles with people

  • Help shape and plan communications for programs and strategies

  • Help maintain reporting requirements for funders 

Other Skills and Duties 

Fundraising & Advocacy 

  • Participate in fundraising for general administration and programs through grant writing, donor appeals, special events, earned income, etc

  • Assist with the development of a strategic long-term fundraising plan

  • Support programmatic work advocacy ie. organizing, deep listening canvassing, Social, Racial, Economic, Immigrant, and Disability Justice

  • Assist when advised to advocate for policies on the local, state, and federal level and creating content for community to assist with these advocacy efforts 

Preferred Experience

  • Four years of communication experience - this can be educational and/or professional experience

  • Experience in networking with diverse groups including community members with lived experience

  • Ability to understand and speak multiple languages
